Best sectors in rationalization expenditures and revenue development for the year 2019
His Excellency General Obeid Muheir bin Srour, Deputy Director General of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) honoured the airports sector for winning the award for the best entity in revenue development, during the annual Human and Financial resources award ceremony. The Institutional Support sector was also felicitated for winning the award for the rationalization of expenditures for the year 2019.
His Excellency said that GDRFA is working to enhance the rationalization of expenditures and revenue generation by implementing best practices in the field of financial sustainability within the Dubai government. These efforts will help achieve the strategic objectives of GDRFA in optimally utilizing its human resources. The Directorate is currently studying the actual needs of the organizational units and exploring new investment opportunities and partnerships to better capitalize on available resources. It is also focusing on reducing the consumption of the energy through the integration of less costly alternatives. He added that the proposals made by the employees regarding the rationalization of the expenditures and the development of revenues have greatly contributed to raising efficiencies and minimizing the cost of services.
Major General Awad Al Oweim, Assistant Director General of the Human and Financial Resources Sector, said that this award reflects the success of GDRFA Dubai’s efforts in enhancing its competitiveness in the optimal utilization of human resources and nurturing a culture of excellence and creativity, thereby making it a practical approach to government operations. He added that the award for the best sector in rationalizing expenditures is based on 5 criteria. These are reduced percentage resulting from the rationalization of the expenditures; the number of useful suggestions; knowledge levels of employees in the concepts of financial sustainability; the number of the rationalization initiatives; and the immediate value of the initiatives. On the other hand, the criteria of the award for the best sector in enhancing revenues included the launch of services with financial return; the number of useful suggestions; knowledge levels of the employees about financial sustainability; and the income of the development program.
Brigadier General Hussein Ibrahim, Assistant General of the Institutional Support Sector, said: “We focused on preparing and implementing main systems, programs and processes of the general directorate apart from developing efficient programs to displace the expenses and their sustainability by using artificial intelligence in the projects and the applications implemented by the Directorate, therefore it helped the administration to reduce the expenses.” He added that GDRFA has implemented programs to prepare, and train accredited internal residents to enable those becoming consultants. GDRFA also worked on exploiting the potential of its employees and preparing and training them to become certified trainers within the Department, thereby reducing costs associated with hiring external trainers.
Brigadier Talal Al Shanqeeti, Assistant Director General of Airport Passport Affairs sector, said: “We are happy that the airports sector won the award for the best entity in revenue development by optimally utilizing its financial resources. It was the result of consolidating the concepts of the economic sustainability in the Directorate and encouraging the sector to make optimal exploitation of the financial resources to achieve its strategic goals in line with the financial policy of the government.”
