GDRFA-Dubai organizes two-day entertainment activities for the workforce to celebrate Eid Al Adha
The Labour Regulation Sector of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) today started mass celebrations dedicated to the workforce in Dubai, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, as part of its annual labour initiatives based on the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, in recognition of the role of their active and contributory role on the path of progress the country has been over the years.
Under the slogan, ‘Let’s Celebrate Eid Together’, the celebrations are taking place for two days, on June 16 and 17, at three main locations in Jebel Ali, Al Muhaisnah, and Al Quoz which houses most workforce residences in Dubai. The two days feature a variety of recreational and sports activities and the distribution of valuable prizes, including a brand-new car, gold coins, air tickets, and a free one-year subscription to the Atrangii application.
Within the framework of facilitating Eid prayers for tens of thousands of workers, the Labour Organization Sector at GDRFA-Dubai, in cooperation and coordination with the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charity in Dubai, set up an Eid prayer hall that could accommodate tens of thousands of worshippers in Jebel Ali, next to the workers’ housing complex, to facilitate the performance of prayers by workers on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha.
Speaking about the Eid Al-Adha celebrations, His Excellency Major-General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director-General of GDRFA-D, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs, and Chairman of Taqdeer Award, expressed his deep appreciation for the support provided by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charity for the idea of building a large capacity-temporary prayer hall for the first time in the area housing the workers’ residences in Jebel Ali to enable them perform the Eid prayers easily and conveniently in devotion.
He said: “We continue to organize attractive celebrations for the Dubai workforce and have strengthened our activities following successfully organizing celebrations previously with wide participation by the workers. We are pleased that this has become a part of our culture of economic community as a token of appreciation for the wonderful efforts made by the workforce to enhance the development journey witnessed by the country.”
The workers expressed their deep appreciation for the GDRFA-Dubai for its idea of setting up a temporary mosque next to their residences in Jebel Ali which made it easier and satisfactory for them to pray near their residences without having to move to other areas relatively far off. Also, the team in charge of organizing the prayers distributed the Iftar meal to them after the prayers, wishing them a blessed Eid.
The two-day Eid celebrations, held under the slogan Let’s Celebrate the Eid Together’, will end tomorrow, and tens of thousands of workers are expected to participate in several activities, as had been the case with the Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
The purpose of the celebration is to gather members of the working community together to have an unforgettable experience filled with entertainment and sports, and the opportunity to win valuable prizes. The celebrations organized by GDRFA-Dubai are aimed at strengthening Dubai’s reputation as the best city to live and work, and to shed more light on the UAE’s efforts in workforce welfare and the priority they have been given for being a key contributor to the massive progress and development that the country has been witnessing access several domains.
