GDRFA takes part in Border Management & Technologies Summit Middle East 2023
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has participated in the Border Management & Technologies Summit Middle East 2023, which concluded recently in Dubai. The summit, a key event in the field of air transport development, was organized by the International Border Management and Technologies Association (IBMATA) and took place at the Le Meridien Hotel. The event focused on enhancing safe passenger movement through Dubai Airport, aligning with global standards.
During the summit, Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, emphasized that GDRFA’s current priorities include improving data quality, revising privacy laws before using data at ports to boost security, and facilitating passenger procedures. He stressed that the General Directorate pays particular attention to international cooperation and adopting advanced technologies, such as biometric systems, to fortify airport security.
The International Border Management and Technologies Association (IBMATA) is dedicated to seeking solutions to challenges faced by ports across the world and places significant emphasis on leveraging technological advancements in border systems to shape the future of border management.
Further contributing to the summit, Captain Engineer Obaid Mohammed Al Mansouri, Head of the Operational Procedures Section at the Smart Command and Control Center of GDRFA, presented a working paper, delving into the pioneering experience of the Smart Command and Control Center. He detailed the General Directorate’s achievements in modernizing procedures and the efficient management of these processes within the Smart Command and Control Center, showcasing the Directorate's advancements in streamlining border control operations through innovative technologies.
